When the tree falls in the mirror neuron of a young medic it does not make much sound. One such moment was in the Kilpauk Medical College library dense silence jungles. Santiago Ramón y Cajal was one such towering Spanish father tree competing for attention with all the silences and the abstract thoughts of the Banyans of the Kilpauk medical college Campus. Every medical college and their tree counterparts share the similar storylines speaking volumes about the formative years of the young medics. 

How Ramón y Cajal’s legacy shaped the world’s to come is a feat in itself. Along with the the crops and plants that had value in the enriching the diversity champions life style, the tree model illustrations of ‘Santiago Ramón y Cajal ‘ was the most sought after all. The arborescent dendritic branches of ‘ Ramón y Cajal’ can be aptly referred to the ‘mirror trees’ as the arrangement mirrors the most efficient tree arrangements in a forest to intertwine and communicate with each other. The 'Mirror Neuron' which receives it name for mirroring the motor functions fails to capture the essence of the dendrites, that mirror the deep evolutionary designs of the nervous system. The art of branching that takes place in the lungs, vascular systems, kidneys and other organs do mirror the same essence but the branching models of the nervous tissue takes a special interest in keeping up the spirits of the trees. ‘Dendrite’ is the branching of a tree sounds as strong and clear as ‘ Vaginum’ is the floral sheath.

My personal bias is in remaining attracted to this dream of how the pre-morbid rowdy of a fellow can convert his angst to raise to the position of a father of modern neuro-anatomy is not limited by time. How far can the disaffected go with this pointlessness of the situation without the champions of social institutions?  How far the temples, hotels, churches and families are conducive to promote the healing spaces is what should reverberate perpetually...

 The single neuron minded theoreticians of the West who wield the authority by blinding themselves to the sounds, musics, emotions of the disaffected, present themselves with  a humongous gap that dictates the needs for its own remedies from the STEM [ Science, Engineering , Technology and Mathematics] industries and training industries of modern Post colonial Psychiatrists.

The farce of a drunken science

Relationships are forever trickier. Relationships with tricksters doesn't get any easy. Henry the eight gave a whole hearted attempt to explore the farce of marital relationships. He killed one out of six. The feat matching that of John Cadewell, he killed one out of twelve before propositioning Lithium as a gold standard for Bipolar mood swings. Henry only propositioned a lot of church money to his own government, an apple of his eye daughter Elizabeth and five hundred ships to appease his sea folly spirits. Relationship with real people cannot be the same as relationship with objects of science. Real people purr when you are nicer to them. Objects of science blur the conditions to be nicer to people.

In oligopoly the man who has relationship intimate with zero to one person, tends to thrust his view points on to others and constitutionalise the puranic ancient canons. In Polypoly the man who has far too many relationship trees hides his sexual affinities behind the scientific canons like evolution, linguistics, racial histories and would thrust the oligopoly constitutions on the willing subjects. 

If the hero wants a clinical claim to expedite matters to his advantage, he often turns to ICD and DSM to appease his mores. Autism is compatible with oligogamy ( monogamy or zero gamy) . ADHD is compatible with Openness to new novelty experiences. Personality disorder is compatible with finding a dominatrix mistress. Depressive disorder is compatible with learned helplessness with rich and powerful partners. Anarchic personality is compatible with Dissocial personality disorder. Antisocial personality is compatible with having the harem of partners. Manic personality has the art of assortative mating with honey bee like profilers. The learning disabled is too clever for these trouble and never moves away from his mom and the Carer. The Schizo and the deluded keep adding how many more virtues and vices could be added in this dimension. 

Medicaments can come to rescue the souls severed by excesses of unregulated passion. Except when it does not Bung up the bowels, retrograde ejaculate in to the bladder, make you a space cadet or a rocking star. Especially when the relationships trivialise abortions, extramarital relationships and in the process trivialises sex itself, there is little scope for phytoestrogens and psychotropics to rescue the glory. Psychotherapy is the key, I pray to thee... Lord Shiva, let you get a very old girl as your therapist, to avoid the lure of relationships and to hang on tight and to get in there to the zone of creativity, to recreate the holy order your house, away from the influence of masquerading politicians and movie stars. 

Let the spirits of Emma Darwin and Jenny Marx guide your being to a more restful place called Home, away from all the back breaking works of the world on.

The Grass Bezoar

The horses and their sports are not well rooted in Indian subcontinent as some western scholars insinuate to the young readers, as they did not have enough Leg rooms. Horses are not native to Indian Subcontinent similar to the lions. Hunting and Ashwamedha Yaga are viewed with suspicion and there are long held beliefs that these forces played a major role in shaping of Indian history culture. 

The spectacle of cruel horse sacrifice and Necrophilia linked with the queen is directly propagated and aimed at the Brahmin Priests to have killed the pain related to addiction to the fast sports, hunting, gambling and related maladies of the ancient times. The emblematic horses on the Ashoka Chakra remains as an ambiguous symbol singing the glory of the war horses and cautionary tales of an impending danger. The Ashwamedha Yaga sacrificial priests who have tamed the spirits at the times of distress are often made scape goats for denying to recreate the spectre of horrors of the history. Did the Ashwamedha Yaga prized horses that are trained to run relentlessly covering vast scapes of unmarked territories to create empires for the kings, lacked the training when to trot gracefully and halt and retreat to safe places?

When the young mind is given a picture to digest, of the Queens being made to sleep with the slaughtered horses, it triggers a strong image of the role of the priest. The ancient anxiety trickles down generation after generation, without any accompanying subtext or explanation.

The plight of the persons bonded with the fast running species calls for our attention to evaluate critically the method behind the madness. Race horses and Grass Sickness condition throws more light in to this ancient horror. Race horses that run enviable distances to conquer the lands for their kings and the jackpot for their gamblers when fall in to the precipices, the gloom of the spasms descend on all the stakeholders. The bowels craving for the missing joy of daily running congests, twists, bloats and the agonised anti-peristaltic frothing and rolling on the grounds is a price the kings and the gamblers pay for nurturing this trait.

It is a million dollar venture to save the horses who walk blindly in to this gambit. The transference and the sympathetic pain that descends on to the stake holders of the dying horse is unquestionable. The bezoars of the blocked bowels of the kings and horses becomes the responsibility of the so called Brahmin Priests, or any other professionals who could allay their misery. It evokes how this is narrated at different points in history to suit the needs of the people who want to ascend to the power. If Brahmin bashing becomes a common currency to rise to power, all the rituals associated with the class acquire the dark veils and shadows.

The queen who is made to sleep with the slaughtered animal in distress to compensate for the voracious appetite and the ensuing pangs of guilts of the king, is the question that remains unanswered. The kings may become supposedly guilt free through this act. What is left at the remains of the Queens explains the fallacy of quick fixes for Kings to come. The champions who tamed the spirits of the horse race gambling without leaving any pangs of envy, leave an indelible mark in the histories, which keeps resonating in the works of Sculptor Sri.M.N. Anatomy of a Fallacy : 'P' Value

If you get 4 out of 5 times correct, that is enough to generate a value of scientific confidence. How does it work in the generating a proposition in humanities. 'The Hunger Artist' of Franz Kafka is a powerful metaphor. The man who does not love food, finds a new mission to lie down in front of a public audience for 40 days. The appreciation works it charm during this show. The show owner loses interest in this game after 40 days of starvation and fires the hunger artist. Even after the show is over the man continues to starve himself to death. 'Kafkaesque' in action. 

Loss of love towards food is one of the varieties of disturbance that makes a dominant presence in formulating many a maladies of the mind. The bureaucratic process maps of the social institutes for recovering from mental illness find hard to recreate the lost magic towards food. It is not 'what is on the offer' culture that creates the space for reigniting the love for food. It is how it is offered and the music and languages that follows before and during the process. The tyranny without tyrant is the Kafkaesque essence that creates metabolic syndromes and clinical buddhas of the fallen men. It is often repeated that there are many trees and few Indians in the social institutes. More managers and less people on the shop floor. The eating never stops, the hunger never stops as there is no Love that feedbacks or guides the fallen...

There is no personal trainer you can fall in love without boundaries who can put you on the long leash of ketogenic diet or 8 litres of water a day. Does this generate a scientific confidence value, that Kafkaesque social institutes promoting recovery falls flat on its lofty ambitions. It is my fourth attempt in trying to link a few ideas together to generate a truth like proposition. My bladder is getting irritable and urges me to take a leave at this juncture every other time I cross this point. There is no 'P' Value in Humanities, Only 'Pee' Waves'. Getting seriously pissed off repeatedly. 

That's when the dream never stops of Annapooranis who kick in with magic wands out of of frogs' legs, blue cheeses, burgers, red wines.. 'Time enough' mothers. Hari Om Tat Sat...

‘Do’ or ‘Docere’

The roots of doctor are found in Latin to ‘Docere’. To Teach good ways of living. Teaching by example and a personal one to one transmission of the essential is an utopian dream of a good teacher. When the cultural icons are busy plundering and amassing wealth, escaping from tyranny, legalising slave trade, seeing the world as a market, their gurus inevitably catch up on the restlessness of their ages keeping the art of doctoring a distant utopian dream. Hence the watered down version of ‘To Preach’ becomes a restless norm for the desirable ‘To Teach’. 

Now preaching by the priests has its own enemies. Dogs testicles hanging out prominently are called Bollocks. A common slang that refers to the Priest’s Cloaks, for prominently displaying the agenda of proselytising in masses to bring the spirits in tune with the restless empire building forces. There is no time for the discontent except for the marked emptiness of the missionaries. 

Doctors sharing the restlessness of their times have maintained the pangs of anxiety that is transmitted generation after generation perpetuating several myths of the state. I have shared two poems of Writer Payon that captures the essence of this Crux from Indian milieu. I have sought his permission to modify it in version two of first poem and the second poem to capture and mix the essence of post colonial angst. 

The Iyer, Priest and Psychiatrist share the kindred spirits in promulgating the modern myths from the Vedic times. Good rituals from Humanities and Psychoanalyst the effective personal guru in bad times have been silenced by the restless charitable acts far too quickly. This kind of addresses why psychiatry and sociology of the West continue to fail in making an effective appeal.

Humanities Perspective on Autism Vs Personality Disorders

This book is new on the stands. Would not say hot off the press. More cold logic and lot of hours of drudgery. But I am personally satisfied with the scholarship and the openness for new ideas. The book is available in Karmac books online.

Albert Einstein once said: "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them."

‘ Semitism and Brahminism’ is such a powerful and overpowering knot as a result of thousands of years of linear and rational thinking as dictated by the vicissitudes of civilisational trajectories and relentless cultural wars. We end up picking up the pieces in our day to day clinical works is the occupational hazard of our professional lives.

Brahma is the creator of social, political and cultural orders of our civilisations. All the roads to hell are paved with the best intention as Samuel Johnson puts it. So for all the right and wrong reasons, the knot of Brahminism and Anti Brahminism evolves and comes across our ways of clinical work of the Psychiatrist and Brethren Psychologists.

APA Diaspora Jewish Psychiatrists campaigned to make Anti-Semitism as a diagnostic entity in its own merit. The dissenting faction from the same group contended in Autocorrecting the habits of the methods of Semitism through rigorous reflection and taking Kanner’s Autistic Spectrum Disorder as a valid tool to allay the evils in the system of Semitism puritanical concepts. Simon Baron Cohen’s Zero Degree of Empathy captures how the empathy gets lost in both Autism and Personality disorders, i.e: Semitism Vs Anti Semitism. And he is the leading figurehead for UK Autistic Communities.

I picked up this seed / thread from Rk Rudhran and have been working on since 2007, with little or no progress so far. I reached calamitous conclusions and paid a hefty price with my mental health in my juvenile and relentless pursuit with this and retired hurt since 2015. But the new openings from Jewish Psychoanalysts have rekindled my hopes for a better future. Clinical diagnoses are often persecutory and Recovery tools from psychologists are nurturing in a motherly way.

I am keen to learn any new developments taking place in Indian milieu from my teachers and colleagues to see if any attempts to tame the holy cow in to the clinical canons of recovery similar to our American masters. There are a lot of interdisciplinary learning that takes between : Psychology and Humanities ( Folklore, Anthropology, Literature and Fine Arts) which has made this dream in to a ground reality. The religious essence gets distilled in to the agents of social care in this process. Whereas the holy cow approach held by the nexus of powerful families and aided by religious institutions are making the recovery to mental well being available to the chosen few in this network. How social institutions could spread this to the very last socially disadvantaged avoiding calamitous agents of change like Marxism is the challenge in front of us. To me it means more scholastic vigour, open mindedness, more tea , meditation and endless conversations.

If Jewish Prof Simon Baron Cohen is able to convert the angst of Jewish Genocide in to an useful role of championing for the Autistic Spectrum disorder and defend it against its predators of Personality disordered anger, thereby cleansing his memories of the trauma.I believe the same could prove useful in to converting the trauma of the Tamil Genocide from the Indian consciousness by introducing the clinical model of Autism and its antagonists in using personality disorder clinical concepts. That would be my campaigning message in a nut shell. And Humanities could tamper and shape it further to an useful clinical entity. 

On an end note: The key message from Islam is ‘ The creator / Allah stands away from his creations’ avoiding this kind of getting in to Brahminism trouble. And it is heavy snow for the past few days and I am stranded in my own home. Looking through the windows of pristine and pure snow creating some homogenous order and taking away all the diverse happiness I am used to. I would be very happy to lead, follow and shake hands with one and all who share similar interest. Starting a new division in RCPsych college in the international relations can be a help or hindrance as you can advise me.

This picture below captures the birth of civilisations and birth of its gods and leads on to think about the histories of their lived lives ( Puranas / Sunnah). 

The cosmic mouth piece is littered with Maha Shunya, Big Bang, Imagined landscapes of the garden of Eden, The dextro and Laevo rotating Shanku - Conch. The cosmic mouth piece is straddled to a Mahayoni , the originator of all new lives and new beginnings. The Mahayoni is perpetually churned out by a Mahalingam aiding the process of creation. 

The first indigenous man from the Woods looking to the Civilisational orders of things in order to interact is Adam / Rudhran. Eve and Rudhran’s consort are capable of managing their own inherent desires for the Fruits of Labour of the newly found civilisations. The responsibility in materialising this desire could be ascribed to their male counterparts. As female kind in general tend to avoid the anxiety of authorship for causing any transgressive rebellious act. So based on your biases you can ascribe the rebellious act of stealing the light/fire/knowledge for civilisation of the cities to this first man or first female. 

Snake here represents the satanic rebel aiding Adam and Rudhran in a symbiotic way to steal the Apples / fruits of civilisation/ light/ fire/ knowledge and all good things nice and warm. The transgression results in Adam’s Apple poisoned with ‘Hyper-Cholinergic substances’ acquiring the Neelakanda status. Paganic and Shamanic utterances giving the forest men ( Adam and Rudhran ) the prominent Adam Apples to distinguish it from their atrophied Indigenous first city dwellers is left to imaginations. 

The disillusioned City Dweller taking interest in the orders of a forest dwelling life could be understood from the lived lives of Prometheus, Voltaire, Rousseau, Marx so on and so forth. 

If the entire process of creating a rebellious act is sponsored by Uncles of Prophets like Muttalib ( For Mohammed ) or Cassius ( Brutus) , their lived lives takes a different connotation. That the creator of trouble or a new order is outside of his creations. 

The Cosmic Grinders are in perpetual motion churning their Big bangs, Shankus ( Conchs) and other countless cosmologies and a million lived life stories. 

In this Instance the Snake by mistake instead of stealing an Apple , uproots the entire tree of our lives. Amen, Om Shanti and Insha Allah.

Indian Psychiatry is something like the primitives, like the Indus Valley Civilization , like our old Tholkappiyam , Ramayana , Mahabharata, Upanishads , Patanjali , Thevaram, Tamil literature. It doesn’t end.

How Van Gogh's inspired Art works, helped to see the Beauty amidst the numbness of industrialised Netherlands is history. Japanese paintings start with Fuji mountain. For Indian psychiatry the visions of Himalayas. Moving this essence to Agathiyar's Pothigai and Thinai Literary theories aided by Cholinergic musings is the crux that compels and entices me. 

Meenakshipuram Deivakumar Muthukumaraswamy’s - Epistemology of Sangam Literature ( Thinai Literary Theories) remains a fertile ground to sow the Seeds of a Nascent Cholinergic Muse. Visualising the Thousand Eyed Goddesses helping to cross this Ford ( Thinai) is quite comforting to envisage this task.

Notes: 

‘Father’ is conceptualised across cultures in various forms and Names. Abrahamic civilisations ( Judaism, Christian and Islam) contend with Lord, YHWH and Holy Father. Hinduism has its equivalence in Shiva as the Father figure. Shakthi the Universal Mother. Shiva is equated with Pure Knowing ( Sutha Arivu) and Love. Arive Sivam/ Anbe Sivam. The universal dimension to this: God is Love. My contention was if Knowledge and Love is attributed to the Male Aspect. What attribute should be given for female goddess- Shakthi?  

My friend Tharangini commented- Knowing is a male thing. The desire and drive to knowledge is more overpowering for males. Along with it goes the control and domination. Love and Intuitive reasoning is a female quality and attribute for the female goddess. The female hence retains a universal desirability status. Across all civilisations, this female status remains an enigma. So the Male gods play the female roles too according to the needs of times. The Hindu father figure plays the role of cosmic father, cosmic mother and a sexless being. Bit complicated to communicate the differences between different Father figures in different religions. But that’s the problem we encounter, if we think about that.
